The wheels come in various sizes to suit different sized animals - if your pet's wheel is too small it may cause spinal problems, as the back will be subjected to excessive bending and pressure. Note that exercise wheels are usually unsuitable for rats.
Tip: Over time, metal wheels may start to squeak - to avoid losing any sleep over your pet, simply apply a little Vaseline to the spindle.
