Why test the pH-value?
The well-being of fish and the growth of aquatic plants are largely dependent on the proper pH-balance of the water. Many substances solved in water are also liable to changes caused by the pH-value. Fluctuations in the pH-value, in particular, ought to be avoided.
The pH-value most conducive for keeping freshwater fish and plants is in the neutral range around 7. A pH-value of around 8.3 must be maintained in saltwater aquariums.
Instructions:
1. Repeatedly rinse the test cup with the water to be tested.
2. Fill test cup with the water to be tested up to the 5 ml marking (CAUTION: the lower line of the water level must coincide with the marking).
3. Add 4 drops of the reagent, stir briefly and allow to settle 3 minutes.
4. Compare the resulting colours on white background with the enclosed colour chart and read the corresponding pH-value.
