Great for whippets

I've used Origen and latterly Acana for my nine-month old whippet pup since she was quite small (Origen do a puppy food but Acana sadly don't.) However, the vet has just said she's in top condition and the correct weight for her breed and age so it can't be doing her any harm. I originally consulted the Dogfoodanalysis.com site and found these foods to be high on their rating lists. It's a pity that we don't have a UK equivalent for this site because the only 5 and 6 star foods imported into the UK are Origen and Acana, the other foods listing are only sold in USA and Canada. I was surprised to see that many of the best UK foods are some way down the listings, including Science Plan, which she was originally having. Well done Zooplus for stocking these foods. It would be useful to have Economy 13.5 kg packs in mixed flavours as it's expensive to buy them individually, say a Pacifica and Grasslands in the same offer.

Very pleased with this

I have two bichons, one of whom has terrible allergies. I've been doing home cooking for the last few years but I decided they needed to have a change and also the 'crunch factor'. It is now ten days since they began getting slowly used to this new product and so far so good. They love it but it doesn't look very much in the bowl. Because it is such a good source of high protein a little goes a long way. Never mind, they still get their apples and carrots to fill up the corners. Yes, very pleased with Acana Pacifica - although for the first few days it was like they were going in for a poo competition. It has steadied now though and is just two small ones a day.

So far so good

I have had my 8 month old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel on Acana Provincial Prairie blend for about 2 weeks. So far he has never had such solid poop and he cleans his whole bowl with no hesitation. I orignially had him on Blue organic chicken and rice as well as Innova Puppy. Also tried Fromm 4 star duck, however he had on and off loose stool with all of those. I chose the Acana over Orijen because I was a little nervous to put him on that high of a protein diet (although I haven't read anything to support this) I felt Acana provincial was a good comprimise. The company- Champion foods also emailed me back regarding perservatives used in their food. THey stated they do not use the chemical ethyoxyquin. All in all a good food for my dog so far.

Great dried food

Tried this and Origen on 14 dogs from puppy to very old and found that it caused no digestive problems in any of them even two that are sensitive and they also loved it. I would use these products in rotation with raw feeding. Extra good moistened with a high quality wet food. Best dried I have used and much less poop than other kibbles.

GREAT food from the makers off Orijen!

Acana is made by the same company as Orijen and this is a great thing... natural whole foods, only the best and freshest human grade premium ingredients, no nasty additives or preservatives.

Like Orijen, Acana Provincial is grain free. Acana Pacifica and Orijen 6 Fish have different fish to fruit, vegetable and botanical ratios and I use both Acana and Orijen and they are equally high in quality with excellent results. The ratios just show the different ways in which nutrition is given. I have two dogs and do find that one easily puts on weight (I find her more suited to Acana's ratios) and the other is the complete opposite (he maintains a lovely weight on Orijen something no other dog food did) and I use both adult Orijens and intend to rotate them with all three Acana Provincials as good quality variety is key and this is the best way to ensure there is no deficiency in ther diet.

All in all Acana is a fantastic dog food and if you already use Orijen I'd highly recommend rotating with these. Also if you tried Orijen but found they were too high in protein for your dogs I'd suggest giving this a go! I'm so happy these are now being stocked here as I was finding it impossible to find a rotating replacement to go with the Orijens once Solid Gold Barking At The Moon stopped being stocked here. Thank you zooplus...please don't ever stop selling Orijen and Acana I'd be lost!
