It’s empty in here!
These treats are very popular with my flatcoat - and all his friends on his walks. Pure protein and fish oil, no carbs, so no need to worry about weight gain. But I would say it's essential to have them in a protective pouch rather than loose in the pocket as they smell fishy and are a bit oily (in case you didn't guess).
Big bag, but fish were in tiny bits and crumbs. To be honest you're better off paying the extra few pence and getting the other dried fish they sell on here. These apparently have nothing added but they made my two dogs - and the other dog I walk - madly thirsty, which the Trixie ones didn't. That's a big minus, as I take them on walks as rewards. Will be going back to the Trixie ones in future.
These are probably the best value treats we have found so far. The bag is gigantic. The fish themselves are small and very easy to break up even smaller, so ideal for training. They stink, which is obviously a plus for the dogs, but they don't make my hands or pockets smell which is a nice change from some other treats! The fact that these are pure dried fish is great for sensitive tums too, no worries about any tummy upsets or allergies.
My terrier loves these. We did have some issues with her sensitive tummy at first as they are quite hard (she's prone to colitis) but the solution has been to chop up the fish and add them into her training treat mix which includes boiled chicken. The fish softens, which means her stomach can tolerate them, but they also add a fishy flavour to the rest of her treats making them higher value too!
I don't like to write bad reviews really as there are plenty of people out there who do so just for the sake of complaining but I feel the need to tell potential buyers about the experience we had with this product. It's true these are high reward treats and we did some good training sessions with them. However the middle of the night both our dogs were sick with mostly water and foam as if something was irritating their stomachs. In hindsight I am not surprised as if you feel these treats with your fingers they are actually pretty sharp in some places! My lab admittedly does not chew his food nearly enough but it really affected our staffy who is a very careful chewer. We left these treats alone for a few days then tried them again to make sure it wasn't just a coincedence and they were both sick again and making those dry retching noises with watery little bits of vomit. I am going to look into whether I can soak them to soften them but then they will no good for training as they will be too soft. Sorry for the bad review Zooplus - love the website and the customer service and prices and excellent but these little fishes are not for us I'm afraid.
None of my dogs are very food-oriented and this is the only treat "high value" enough to serve as a training aid. They absolutely adore them. I had to buy a pouch though, as they get stuck to the inside of my jacket pocket, plus it keep the smell at bay.
I have a Tibetan Terrier and a Labradoodle, and both dogs cant get enough, they are so practical, not messy and are a very healthy treat for your dog..just bought the big bag.
I have two five year old Jack Russell bitches and they have completely different tastes to each other so I am really pleased that I have finally found a treat that they both enjoy. Not only do they do anything for the fish treats but so do the majority of their friends who range from Staffy to Bijon Frise in size. Also being entirely natural they are very healthy for them and have improved their coats enormously. Well done Zooplus keep up the good work.
My 3 dogs absolutely adore these. So much so that I only have to sing a few words from "When the Boat Comes In" (on Youtube if you are not familiar with this old fishermen's song from the NE of England) and they rush in from the garden in a mad scramble to get to the fishies first. Of course they always get one each but it's great fun. Goodness knows what the neighbours think of my singing voice!
My 2 Cockers love these, great reward when learning new things, although I do break in half and the jackpot is a whole one. As they are very healthy for them no fear of fat Cockers here.
My dogs will kill for these and since I have been giving them a couple each day their coats have totally transformed into rich deep glossy coats. Would totally recommend.
My 19 month old Staffie really loves these. They don't smell very much (unlike some natural products) and are a great treat which he really loves - mind you he likes most things including clothes pegs, my socks and anything unfortuante enough to have got run over by a car! All in all I think of them as a healthy treat (much better than dead hedgehog!!).
My dog loves these. They look a bit off putting, heads, eyes etc but he loves them and they are clearly low in fat. They are not the cheapest dog treat but you get a lot for your money.
