It’s empty in here!
Wanted to try this style of litter box to avoid 2 problems: 1) my "high peeing" cat 2)litter tracking everywhere...thankfully those problems were solved with this box, but that is the only reason i gave it any stars because now with this box, i have new problems: - there is a very annoying groove in the base of the box (i think to help with carrying) but clumping litter gets stuck around it and it is an absolute nightmare to scoop up, spreading dirty litter all over the rest of the box as you try to scrape it away. - it is very awkward to clean & wash it properly. I have to wash it out in my bath which is not ideal. - It was extremely overpriced for what it is, which is essentially a storage box with a hole in the lid!!

Top entry litter box
Why haven't I tried this before! My Siamese Mishca developed an allergy and asthma related to cat litter dust. After much trial and error he now uses a wood chip based litter. The drawback being that it tracks terribly even with a mat. This box is great and Mishca took to it straight away. There is still some tracking but much less than before. I put a lot of litter in as he likes to dig so don't have a problem with the grab handle at one end. I would recommend this item.
Works very well
We bought this about a year ago, really like it as it stops our cats kicking litter everywhere. We were concerned at first whether the cats would use it, but there was no problem. The only criticism I have is a stupid design flaw, at one end the floor has a "lump" in it. I don't know why it dose not seem to serve any purpose but it gets in the way of picking up the litter. Obviously the cats pee at that end just to be annoying.
Stops pee escaping, but hinge flimsy litter still scatters as cats jump straight out and not on to perforated lid and defiantly not for very large cats. Well not for an 8kg Maine coon! He just sniffs it gives me a withering look and takes him self of to the open tray instead. So it's worked for his smaller sister but still have to cope with the male peeing out of the tray. Oh well best order some more puppy pads!
Having read other mostly positive reviews for this box, i was eager to buy it and finally resolve the problem of my cat's pee leaking out of the 'normal' lidded boxes and unlidded trays i had tried. Also was looking forward to less tracking of litter. After only a few weeks use i am already looking for a new box as i am fed up with this one; - it is a nightmare to clean thanks to a totally unnecessary grove in the bottom of the box where wet litter gets stuck and is extremely hard to remove with a scoop. - despite the top entry, the cat still just jumps straight up and down from it meaning all the litter on her paws still ends up tracking everywhere! - very overpriced considering its flaws. + The only positive is that pee definitely does not leak out!

Love this litter tray!
I have 3 cats, 1 who always manages to wee out of covered litter trays. I had 2 expensive modkat trays before but I had to keep buying tarpaulin type liners for £12 a pop every few months. Saw this and have had 2 and they are brilliant and great value for money and I haven't looked back!

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
I have 6 cats of varying sizes and temperament which meant litter all over the damn place! Soooo a month with my top entry litter tray and turning my big catit hooded tray around so that became top entry as well, I love it, never going back and have ordered another top entry for upstairs, will be getting another next month too. I've used a lot less litter as it's not being kicked everywhere and there is barely ant being dragged out on their feets! Highly recommended!!
Flimsy and unpractical
This box has a grab-handle space underneath which traps urine, making it difficult to clean. The lid is hinged and to put the Öko Cat's Best litter granules back into the box (they do not all fall back in), you have to pop the hinges out which then flicks litter everywhere. The plastic box is flimsy and ours has split. Get the (tougher, more industrial) CleverCat or the (more expensive but sleeker) ModCat which are of a similar concept, but will last forever.
Good but not for bigger cats
The hinge is not great, it's more like a clip on but not a big deal. I bought this because I wanted to try a top entry box and I'm very happy one has been brought out that doesn't cost £100+ Despite looking at the dimensions it is a bit tight for my 10 month old NFC and she will outgrow it. But for the price it's great to try if you want to see if top entry is for your cat.
I bought to try the idea of a top entry litter box, as nicer designs are £100+ It was on offer at £27. fits nicely into the space I use & has similar room for Ollie as his previous Booda litter box. Very neat design, and more importantly works! I only have the odd bit of escapee litter! looks better in real life than photo, the useless hings are not a problem, i use flushable litter, & just lift lid off. Very impressed & not going to buy more expensive one now! Shame they increased price.
Brilliant but overpriced
Bought this as one of my cats was flicking bits of poo out of her hooded tray. Was a bit worried that they wouldn't know how to use it. (They are not very bright!) but they took to it straight away. It's cut tracking to almost nil. As it collects on the lid and you brush it through the holes. The hinge isn't brilliant but I just lift the lid off instead. My only issue is that it is seriously overpriced for what it is.
At last, a solution
One of my little horrors has taken to peeing up the back of their current hooded litter tray, this means it runs down and seeps between the tray and the hood. As fast as I clean it away, the culprit does it again. I tried them with one of these and all 3 of them seem happy to use it, so I'm back for another. Problem solved. Yes the hinge is a little flimsy, but has held up so far.

Easily the best litter box we've ever had. Perhaps not the most 'stylish', but is very stable, roomy and easy to clean. Plus, the price is unbeatable!

The top entry design perfect for our needs, the hinge is awful!
I needed a new litter box at short notice due to my dogs sudden intrest in eating cat litter (chick crumb). My cat also really enjoys digging in the litter box an was creating a huge mess on a frequent basis. The top entry design solves the above issues, this was the cheapest top entry litter box model avalible in the UK. The hinge on this litter box is a complete joke and doesn't complete its function. If you lift the lid up beyond a 90degree angle you don't have a wall for the lid to rest against etc the hinge will just pop off, a weak point which will eventually snap. I'd recommend this box for someone who wanted to try a top entry model before investing in a most costy durable model.

As a Bengal breeder, I have tried pretty much all litter boxes available. All my adults use these patmate top entry boxes. They are strong and well made, easy to scoop and easy to disinfect, it eliminates litter tracking by 100%. The boxes are very large and my Maine coon neuter pet boy, easily uses this box without issue. I own 6 of these boxes and plan to buy a few more as spares.

Easy clean and good value
I first came across top entry litter trays at my work. They were quite expensive so I was delighted to find an equivalent at a third of the price! It is good, hard-wearing quality plastic, it accommodates large size cats (well, my 6kg fella finds his way in and out of it) and I think the better air circulation reduces the smell. Easy to empty and clean too. I would definitely recommend this item
